H3Africa Delegates Tour Agbogbloshie E-Waste Site

On 26th September 2019, the GEOHealth West Africa Hub welcomed delegates from the H3Africa Consortium to the Old Fadama training facility, clinic, and the Agbogbloshie e-waste and scrap metal yard. The visit was part of the 14th H3Africa Consortium Conference held in Accra from 22nd–27th September 2019.

Led by Prof. Julius Fobil, Principal Investigator of GEOHealth West Africa, the delegates observed training sessions for e-waste workers, toured the onsite clinic with guidance from the head midwife, and interacted with both staff and trainees.

At the Agbogbloshie yard, delegates witnessed informal recycling processes, engaged with workers, and gained first-hand insight into the health and environmental challenges of e-waste. The tour highlighted the importance of linking scientific research with real-world occupational and environmental health issues in Africa.
